Introduction
Christ UM Church has eight active Sunday school ministries which meet at 10:15 am Sunday mornings. They are modeled after the Wesleyan small groups and classes which held the early Methodists accountable for worship, study, training, and service. Some are formed to minister for the age levels of participants, while others generate participation around shared spiritual interests or relationships. This is a brief summary of these vital groups:
Friendship Class-Room 101
Has the largest membership with 55 on its role. They are under the capable teaching of John Shearer, Gene Pickens & Frank Hann. This class has become a mighty witness of the virtue of Christ-like living. They meet in room 101 for study & are involved in broad service& mission.
Builder’s Class-Room 201
Teaching is shared within the class itself. Ministry projects are supplemented by social & fellowship times of this active class of 35 adults.
Koinonia Class-Room 203
Teaching is rotated among class members.
Agape Class-Room 204
Teaching is on a rotation basis with several gifted leaders participating.
New Visions Class-Room 202
Has approximately 20 active members. They enjoy challenging Bible teaching & discussion on how to go deep in the Christian walk.
Open Door Class-Room 106
Is aptly named for a group of believers who gather to grow close to God through study & training. They also share teaching within the class while supporting missions & ministries beyond.
Great Expectations Class-Upper Room
Is specifically geared for the spiritual needs of young married or engaged couples.
Love Walk-Room 107 (Conference Room)
LoveWalk is a new class for those who haven’t previously connected with a Sunday school class. It explores practical and Biblical topics with the challenge to risk a bold walk in God’s love. This class is led by Pastor Larry and Cathy Hinkle.
